A Mermaid’s Purse

Imagine if you will the islands of Massachusetts. The long beaches of Cape Cod stretch out into the sea as a kind of last terrestrial hurrah before the wilderness of the Atlantic. They are the repository of drowned sailors and sharks, both real and imagined, and this little sculpture is their memorial.


Ouzel

Over the winter of 2018/19 I would assiduously feed the thrushes in my garden. Ouzel is a new sculpture inspired by what I saw, and what the birds left behind.

Warbler and Pyx

Every bird is essentially an elaborate container of life, like us however there is perhaps a more subtle dimension out of the reach of science. Some species in particular have a quality of voice, behaviour or plumage particularly suggestive of this, and a painting of the Subalpine Warbler seeks to illustrate the case.
