I’ve recently finished a large painting for my St Kilda paintings series. Featuring a dramatic view of Boreray and Stac an Armin in St Kilda it is titled Winter Solstice, Stac an Armin.

This is a much larger work than my previous St Kilda paintings and suffice it to say is very accurate in its solar depiction.

For those interested in such matters the shadow is an important aspect of the composition, the positioning of the stac being deliberate, in essence a gnomon in the North Atlantic.
