Join the artists of the Material Matters Collective at Open Eye Gallery for the launch of Into the Wyld: Reimagining Sir Gawain and the Green Knight: the official catalogue of their acclaimed 2024 residency at the Williamson Art Gallery.

Re-imagining Sir Gawain and the Green Knight offers a vivid visual documentation of the exhibition and features exclusive work in progress shots from the artists, new creative writing, poetry, plus full transcripts of selected performances.

John has for this work contributed a new poem Red based on the alliterative metre of the Gawain poet. The book also features specially commissioned essays from Prof Sarah Peverley (Liverpool University), of Dr Catherine Morris (Maynooth University), John Reppion and Patrick Kirk-Smith.

The first edition of this book has been designed in a folio format of six separate works, hand bound and numbered in a beautiful production by the artists of Material Matters. The limited edition of 150 copies will retail at £35 with guests to the launch event on the 13th September 2025 to benefit from a special early bird price of £25.

The launch event for will also include a re-screening of selected video works created for the exhibitions, a re-presentation of John’s sculpture Cleave | Cleave and a live performance of Bod_j_ect by Material Matters artist Angelo Madonna.
