EXHIBITION: 13 November – 30 December 2020, Waterfront Gallery
A painting by John Elcock has been selected for the 2020 Wales Contemporary.
Wales Contemporary / Cymru Gyfoes now in its second year is an international open competition developed by the Waterfront Gallery in association with the Welsh Government.
Wales Contemporary celebrates all aspects of the country by inviting artists to submit work inspired by Wales – by its ancient history, its art history, its heritage, its landscape and its contemporary culture.
John’s painting titled Tree of Life is an allegorical depiction of several biblical narratives, transposed to the summit of a Welsh slate mountain.
The exhibition will be opened on Thursday 12th November by Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas, Deputy Minister for Culture, Sport and Tourism for the Welsh Government. Prize winners will receive their awards at a separate prize giving event on 26th November
Exhibitions run at the Waterfront Gallery, Milford Haven 13 November – 30 December 2020.
FEB 2020 UPDATE: Due to the current COVID legislation the organisers have regrettably had to cancel the planned onward tour of the exhibition to gallery@oxo, London from 25 February 7 March 2021.
