EXHIBITION: Unus Multurum, Anglesey, UK. 4th – 19th April 2020 | INSTALLATION POSTPONED
Due to the COVID19 crisis the proposed installation for Unus Multurum from the Material Matters artists has been postponed until the summer. Official statement here: www.materialmatters.org.uk
Artists John Elcock, Angelo Madonna and Simon Job will be exhibiting as the Material Matters collective for Unus Multurum at Plas Bodfa, Wales this spring.
Unus Multorum is the second major happening in an ongoing series of exhibitions, artworks and projects led by contemporary artist and curator Julie Upmeyer, inspired by the process of her renovations at Plas Bodfa, a 100 year-old manor house near Beaumaris on on the Isle of Anglesey.
Following last year’s 66-person exhibition Sui Generis, Plas Bodfa will once again in 2020 open its doors for a house-wide, radically multi-disciplinary exhibition featuring 69 artists, and over 40 pop-up performances.
For Unus Multurum the Material Matters artists will create a new collaboration in which ideas of presence and absence, and the vagaries of time, will be explored across three adjacent rooms on the first floor of this fascinating building.
Material Matters collective was set-up in 2018 reflecting its artists’ shared interest in the creative re-interpretation of places, found objects, raw media and discarded materials.
Through the use of simple materials, light and field-recordings made during earlier site visits, the artists propose to create a set of restrained yet possibly unnerving set of works responding to the building fabric as well as its relationship to the wider landscape.
Press preview: 30 March – 3 April 2020
Exhibition open to the public: 4-19 April 2020 | Free entry.
